Record for biggest graffiti artwork in Singapore broken

A new graffiti piece in a plaza in Singapore has broken the nation’s record for the biggest such type of artwork.

The piece, completed by a Singaporean street artist, was sponsored and commissioned by Samsung and another agency ahead of the technology company’s upcoming devices release in the country. The main inspiration behind artist Jahan Loh’s was Samsung’s new watch, called the Gear S2, a device that will compete with Apple’s own smart watch.

As a part of the opening exhibit for the completed graffiti artwork, several new Samsung devices were on display for attendees to interact with and try out. Those who participated were also invited to submit designs for Samsung’s new smart watch display, making the event embrace art even more. Those people who attended the event just to see new technological gadgets were treated to the idea of art in the tech world, and vice versa.

Prior to the completion of the graffiti artwork, Loh took a look at the submissions for the Samsung smart watch display by other people and drew on those to inspire the piece — the largest in Singapore’s history, measuring nearly 40 meters long and nearly five meters high. The graffiti artwork was completed with blue lines and shading on an all-white background, providing a clean and coherent work. Discernable throughout the line work are shapes such as stars, clouds, birds, and arrows, among other figures. Though the figures are all different and could, at times, be seen as jarring, it helps that blue is the only color used to draw the details of the piece. It makes all of the images work together to form an artwork together. The overall work displays energy and movement, appearing to be thoroughly modern, which would fit with Samsung’s new line of technology and devices being promoted through the project.

The piece’s title is also a reflection of the happy marriage between technology and art on exhibit. Called “With every turn, your life gets better,” the high-energy piece represents all of the advancements that can bring joy, convenience, education, and more to life. This can be true of the art world, which has embraced emerging technology to take pieces to new heights, as well as the world of technology. Smart watches can track a person’s pulse, help them lead healthier lifestyles, and remain more connected to the people in their lives.

If you’ve ever wanted to make your mark on society, graffiti art is certainly one way to make a lasting impression. However, you want to go about completing your art pieces in the right way instead of defacing or harming other people’s properties. That’s why you should enroll in a graffiti art class via SGArtClass.com so that you can understand all of the considerations that go into a graffiti art project. Expert teachers will guide you on the proper techniques and mediums, such as planning your piece and using spray paint, as well as obtaining the proper permission for your artwork.
