Stop spending money on clothing alterations by learning to do it yourself. With sewing lessons, you can become your own professional tailor. Our classes cover everything from simple tasks like hemming or taking in a seam to transforming basic dresses into stunning gowns suitable for any occasion.

Build Your Sewing Skills

No prior experience? No problem! Our classes start with the basics, helping you build a strong foundation for more advanced projects. You’ll learn how to modify your existing wardrobe to keep up with the latest fashion trends. When trends change, you can easily remove or adjust your modifications—like fringes or beading—to stay stylish.

Transform Your Wardrobe

Turn a simple dress into a showstopper by adjusting the hemline, adding or removing sleeves, or altering the neckline. Our clear and concise coaching in a supportive group setting ensures that you’ll quickly gain the skills to modify your clothes just the way you want. Soon, you’ll feel confident enough to make alterations that will have you ready to hit trendy restaurants or hot clubs in your own custom creations.

Sewing Classes at Ang Mo Kio

Join our sewing classes every Tuesday at Ang Mo Kio, where individual attention is given in a group setting. Each participant brings unique skills, experiences, and goals, and we tailor our teaching to meet those needs. Please note that our teacher does not offer private lessons at your home.

Flexible Time Slots

You can choose to attend a 2-hour lesson during any of the following time frames:

  • 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
  • 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
  • 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

Please inform us of your preferred time slot when you enroll.

Lesson Fees and Payment

The cost for four 2-hour lessons is $380, plus a one-time administration fee of $40. Please pay $420 directly to the teacher on your first lesson.

Sewing Tools and Materials

Basic Sewing Tool Set: If you already own some sewing tools, bring them along. You can purchase any additional tools you need from the teacher.

Sewing Machine: Bring your sewing machine to the lessons. If you don’t own one yet, you can try the teacher’s machine during class. If you like it, the teacher can help you order one. Owning a sewing machine is essential for completing homework and practicing your skills at home.

Fabric Materials: No need to bring fabric materials for the first lesson. The teacher will advise you on when to bring them after assessing your progress.

Beginner Project: Drawstring Bag (8 Hours)

Suitable for Total Beginners

  • Introduction to Sewing Machine Parts
  • Basic Maintenance and Cleaning of Sewing Machine
  • Threading and Controlling the Sewing Machine
  • Learning to Sew Straight Lines, Curves, and Zigzag Stitches
  • Introduction to Seams and Their Functions
  • Making Paper Patterns for a Drawstring Bag
  • Layout, Cutting, and Sewing of the Drawstring Bag

Once you complete this beginner project, you’ll be ready to take on other sewing projects.

Advanced Sewing Skills

We offer guidance in:

  • Basic sewing skills for hemming and tailoring clothes for better fits
  • Pattern making and sewing beautiful clothing
  • Taking measurements and drafting patterns for tops, skirts, and dresses
  • Sewing Malay attire like baju kurung (for men and women) and baju kebaya
  • Creating dresses, skirts, and more

Sewing Excursion / Walk (Part I) with Pauline – Introducing Haberdashery and fabric shops in Chinatown to new students is an added service provided by Pauline. This 4 hour walk helps students to identify honest shopkeepers and the best buy in different shops (where to buy linen, cotton, linings, buttons, zips, trimmings, laces, marking papers and even where to sharpen scissors!

Sewing Excursion / Walk (Part II) with Pauline – After the 1st walk, if participants are still interested, another sewing excursion / walk will be organized. A walk down Arab street introducing them to a different selection of fabrics. If time permits, will also proceed to Textile Center, wholesale of Haberdashery stuffs.
