Face Painting

Learn Face Painting in 4 sessions x 2 hours

Nothing brings a smile to a child’s face quite like face painting. Zoos, museums, special events, and birthday parties all frequently feature a professional face painter. You can become the life of the party by taking a class on how to face paint.

Face painting can be as simple or elaborate as you decide. Stick with small pictures like footballs, flowers, or sunbursts on one cheek for casual situations. Advance to elaborate, decorative designs that cover several different parts of the face for particularly special occasions. Learn and practice different designs for both genders.

First, sketch on paper ideas to further develop later into fully colored face-painting masterpieces. After you have generated several concepts, pencil in a blank face for your template. Consider how the curves of cheeks and noses will affect the lines and shape of your design. Indicate in your sketches what colors will work well together for each face-painting concept.

Receive instruction on what works and what doesn’t when the face is your canvas. Start each face-painting session by wiping the face clean — no sweat, dirt, or food particles —with a damp paper towel or baby wipe. Anything foreign left on the face will get in the way of the face paint and brush. Once the area you plan on painting is dry, begin with the background color of the design. As the background paint dries, you will learn to carefully apply foreground details with finer brushes.
